Like I said before, watersheds are important because they supply water to us (all living creatures) and we use water for many things in our daily life.

If we don't keep our watersheds healthy and clean there are going to be a lot of consequences. Ecosystems (the interaction of living things in a place, depending on each other for life) can be severely changed or destroyed by water pollution. Many areas are now being affected by careless human pollution, and this pollution is coming back to hurt humans in many ways. Here are some effects pollted water can have on the earth.

  • Aquatic animals will die. NOOOOOO. Even the dolphins? Yes dolphins will die along with other animals that depend on these water bodies.

  • Distruption of the food-chains. Pollutants such as lead and cadmium are eaten by tiny animals. Later, these animals are consumed by fish and shellfish, and the food chain continues to be disrupted at all higher levels.

  • Diseases. Eventually, humans will be affected by this process as well. In many poor nations, there is always outbreak of cholera and diseases as a result of poor drinking water treatment from contaminated waters.
